The Good News of Jesus Christ

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
(I John 1:9)
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one
(Romans 3:10)
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God
(Romans 3:23)
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
(Romans 5:8)
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned
(Romans 5:12)
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
(Romans 6:23)
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
(Romans 10:9-11)
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
(Romans 10:13)
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
(John 14:18)
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
(I Timothy 3:12)
For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
(Isaiah 41:13)
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
(Matthew 5:10)
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
(I Corinthians 2:9)

How do I pray for forgiveness and salvation?

Simply repeating words won't save anyone, but if you sincerely repent of your sins and turn to Jesus Christ with your whole heart, He will save you! These words are just an example of what someone might say to God:

"Dear God, I have done so many bad things in my life that I am ashamed of (be specific with God‐He already knows). Right now, I repent of my sinful lifestyle and am asking that you help me live for You from now on. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins, was buried, and then rose again from the dead. Please forgive me and save me from the punishment I deserve by Your mercy. In Jesus' name, Amen."
... Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost ...
(Titus 3:5)
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
(Romans 8:18)
